Day 1: Arrival in Dimapur - Transfer to Kohima
Begin your journey by arriving at Dimapur airport or railway station. From there, embark on a scenic drive to Kohima, which will take approximately 3-4 hours. Once you arrive in Kohima, check into your hotel, settle in, and take some time to relax and recover from your travel. Spend the evening at leisure, perhaps taking a short walk to get a feel for the local area. Dinner and an overnight stay in Kohima.
Day 2: Kohima Sightseeing
After morning breakfast, explore the rich history and culture of Kohima. Day 3: Kohima to Touphema
After having a delicious breakfast, Drive to Touphema Village, which is about 2 hours from Kohima. Touphema offers a unique opportunity to experience traditional Angami Naga culture. Visit the local museum to learn about the history and traditions of the Angami people. In the evening, enjoy a cultural program showcasing traditional dances and music. Later return to Kohima for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Kohima - Dzukou Valley Trek
After breakfast explore the stunning Dzukou Valley. Start early in the morning and drive to the starting point of the trek. The trek to Dzukou Valley is a moderately challenging hike, offering spectacular views of rolling hills and unique flora. Day 5: Kohima to Imphal
After breakfast leave Kohima and drive to Imphal, the capital of Manipur, which will take around 5-6 hours. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and take some time to relax after the long drive. The evening is free for you to explore Imphal at your own pace, perhaps visiting some local markets. Have dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.
Day 6: Imphal Local Sightseeing
After breakfast explore the sights of Imphal. Start with a visit to the historic Kangla Fort, an ancient palace that was the seat of Manipur's kings. Next, visit the Govindajee Temple, an important Vaishnavite temple in the region. In the afternoon, explore the bustling Ima Keithel, or Women's Market, which is run entirely by women and offers a wide array of goods. Finish your day with a visit to the Manipur State Museum, which provides insights into the state's history and culture. If time permits, enjoy a relaxing evening by the Loktak Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Northeast India.
Day 7: Imphal to Ukhrul
After the breakfast embark on a drive to Ukhrul, approximately 2-3 hours from Imphal. Ukhrul is known for its scenic beauty and cultural richness. Visit Khayang Peak for panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, and explore Shirui Kashong Peak, famous for the rare Shirui Lily that blooms here. Also, visit the Hundung Mangva Cave, a fascinating natural formation. After a day of exploring Ukhrul, drive back to Imphal for the night.
Day 8: Departure from Imphal
After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Imphal. Depending on your flight or train schedule, you may have some time to do some last-minute shopping or sightseeing. Then, transfer to Imphal airport for your departure.
